Analyst- Transport and Land Use

Job Description

Job Purpose-

  • The analyst will be responsible for supporting the team in the area of Transport Planning and Land Use planning, reporting to Senior Manager. The team’s scope includes all modes of transport, both airside and landside, including the RTA infrastructure and services interface. The landside remit includes access roads, forecourts, car parking, wider airport surface access, super gates and all other transport-related interfaces to and from the airport. The airside scope includes all transport activities, including airside roads, staging areas, airside parking and automated transportation, including APMs.
  • The Capacity Planning Team is responsible for all Capacity Planning related activities from long term through to seasonal declaration (start of seasonal IATA schedule-timeline). In addition, the team determine whether sufficient capacity is available through the season to accommodate the expected demand and revalidates this should planned or unplanned changes to capacity/supply occur in season; this is typically in the form of an assurance assessment.
  • The analyst will translate proposed concepts, ideas and operational strategy into concept design through developing sketches by utilising AutoCAD and AviPlan software tools. S/he should have a good understanding of road infrastructure design and safety principles within the design process.
  • The analyst will analyse various performance data to inform the business on current operational trends and compare them against service standards (e.g. acceptable delay times, capacities and other performance metrics). This will be used to develop future capacity requirements through modelling assessments and detailed simulation models.
  • The individual will support the development and processes related to the Airport Land Use Plans. This will include capturing requirements in the physical land use plan and a supporting database and capturing coordinated and estimated spatial metrics.
  • As required, the individual is responsible for analytical support of the seasonal capacity declaration process at DWC and DXB (within IATA guidelines). The outputs from the role will support the master plan process as key information input on facility requirements, demand and required service levels. 

Job Responsibilities -

Transport Infrastructure, Road Design and Safety

  • Develop concepts, ideas and operational strategy; translate concepts into concept design
  • Utilise AutoCAD, Arc GIS Map and swept path assessment (such as AviPlan) software tools to develop concept designs
  • Apply road infrastructure design and safety principles within the design process

Land use planning

  • Manage and update the existing Land use plans for DXB and DWC in CAD (using AutoCAD) as per the agreed frequency and on an ad-hoc basis
  • Develop a detailed version of the land-use plan required for any specific project/zone within the campus
  • Work with the team members to translate land-use evaluation requests into a working concept, develop sketches and reflect changes within the land use plans

Review of the logistics plans and proposed construction phasing

  • Review various airside and landside project drawings through the project's life cycle, starting from research and ideation to review of proposed phasing and helping project teams ensure minimum disruption to the operations during the works.
  • Support the team reviewing the consultant/stakeholder's proposed logistics and phasing plans. Ensure appropriate feedback is provided to the contractors to ensure business and operational requirements are kept intact during the construction works and ensure minimum disruption to the key stakeholders and passengers.

Skills

Qualifications and Education:

  • The job holder will be educated to a degree level in an engineering subject (Transport and/or Civil engineering).
  • Master's degree in a related subject is preferred.

 Experience:

  • Min 5-6 years of experience in a design role, preferably in a strategic or planning environment in an Airport or Transport related organization or Consultancy
  • Experience in developing concept designs for road infrastructure requirements (such as parking facilities, GSE roads, and transport facilities)
  • Understanding of land use and master planning principles for developments such as an airports or transport interchanges
  • Experience in defining facility requirements, planning assumptions and concept of operations
  • High proficiency in the use of AutoCAD is essential to this role, along with the use of other modelling, design tools (such as AviPlan, Adobe suite) and GIS tools (such as ArcGIS)
  • Ability to communicate data and information in a manner that is readily understood by a wide audience of varied experiences. 

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of the aviation industry, airport operations processes and surface transportation modes
  • Ability to undertake planning projects, starting from problem definition, detailed analysis and presentation of results
  • Influencing skills to present findings successfully
  • Comfortable in dealing with large amounts of data
  • Proficiency to an advanced level with Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel.
