Job Description

Transguard is currently looking to recruit a Category Manager (IT/SI). As Category Manager (IT/SI), you will be responsible for planning, managing and executing specific Purchase Category and/or Business Unit-focused procurement projects as directed by the HOD and agreed with the relevant Business Units. This includes utilising various resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and internal departments in order to deliver projects according to plan, timescale & budgetary targets. The Category Manager-Procurement will be responsible for defining the project plan, cost baseline & deliverables throughout the process.

 

In this role, your responsibilities include the following:

  • Managing and delivering procurement projects as identified by the Director of Business Support and other Business Units.
  • Defining project scope, targets, success criteria and deliverables that support business objectives in collaboration with senior management.
  • Proactively managing changes in project scope, identify potential blocks and produce contingency plans.
  • Clear and timely communication of project plans and deliverables to team members and the management team as appropriate.
  • Drafting and submitting budgeted and non-budgeted savings proposals, plus recommend subsequent budget changes and benefits capture.
  • Instigating, negotiating, drafting, and/or managing the development of supplier contracts as required
  • Responsible for ensuring timely turnaround of approved PR’s into PO (clarifying anything unclear specified on the PR with the business unit as per SLA’s)
  • Ensuring all procurement activity and documentation is compliant with procurement's SOPs
  • Coaching, mentoring, motivating and supervising team members, as required from time to time, regarding their assigned activities
  • Delegating appropriate tasks and responsibilities as required
  • Developing the use of best practices and tools for execution and management of workload as appropriate.

Skills

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Relevant industry experience of 3-6 years
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Sourcing and category management experience of IT and SI services
