Transguard Workforce Solutions along with our client Talents UAE, are currently recruiting a Chief Cultural Guide for the Al Shindagha Museum, Dubai’s latest, landmark cultural and heritage experience located within the Al Shindagha Historical District. . A key part of this activation will be a team of enthusiastic and passionate Emirati & Non-Emirati museum staff to bring the project to life. We are currently looking for Chief Cultural Guides, who will provide inspiring experiences and tell authentic stories for all our visitors at the district.
Reports To: Operational Project Manager
No. of Staff: Supervised: Up to 22 directly / indirectly support project teams
Duration: 5-month initial contract with potential to be extended
Salary: Emirati 18,000 AED/ / non-Emirati 16,250 AED per month including benefits
As Chief Cultural Guide, you will be responsible for the shared management of a team of Senior Cultural Guides and Cultural Guides, ensuring the smooth and seamless delivery of the front of house operations for the district. You will be an inspirational, organised and active manager who will build teams and deliver world class service. You will have experience of motivating and supporting staff in dealing with the public and delivering content and service to the highest level and at busy visitation times.
Responsibilities-
Operational Management
- Manage the front of house operations which includes a team of senior cultural guides, cultural guides and receptionists.
- Work in conjunction with other contractors such as housekeeping and maintenance teams as required to ensure smooth and effective daily running of the museum, exhibitions and events.
- Prepare daily statements and reporting for the Operational Project Manager on visitor numbers, educational programming and trips, tourist groups, operational challenges and risks.
- Ensure that the necessary measures are taken to for the preservation of the visitors' safety and properties the visitors' safety and property
- Adhere to the procedures, policy and instructions of occupational safety and health, and the policy of the environmental management system applied in the authority.
Museum Management
- To lead and manage a team of senior cultural guides and guides, providing direction, leadership and people management.
- Present creative developmental suggestions and proposals in order to attract the largest number of visitors to the museum.
- Work closely with the programming department to implement engaging educational programming and organise and implement educational programmes and trips.
- Coordinate with the departments of the district regarding exhibitions, collections, events and activities in the museum.
- Report any comments or complaints from visitors and try to solve them satisfactorily and as soon as possible according to the district Guidelines.
- Coordinate and follow-up to implement the schedule of visits and programmes for tourist groups to visit the museum with tourism agencies
- Coordinate the implementation of the training and development programmes necessary for Front of House staff and identify training needs
- Work closely with the marketing and sales department to collaborate on media strategy to represent the museum to the audience in a professional and authentic manner.
- Prepare and provide the necessary information clearly about the daily and weekly events for Front of House staff to ensure that the best services are provided to visitors.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities related to the job as assigned.
At the district you will lead a skilled and high-performing team, providing the warmest welcome and the highest level of customer service to visitors at this outstanding cultural destination in Dubai. You will host and guide guests throughout this cultural landmark revealing its inspiration stories in novel and engaging ways. Sharing the story of Dubai in a world-class attraction, you will represent Emirati culture and traditions for visitors, locals and VIPs.
Skills
- Experience managing large teams across departments
- Reliable, punctual, professional individuals who can work in teams
- Flexibility to work according to the operational requirements which include working weekends and public holidays
- Bilingual - English/Arabic [additional languages are a bonus]
- Experience in hospitality industry is desirable
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role
- Background in arts, culture, heritage or visitor attractions is desirable
