Engineer-Configuration Management

Scope:

The Role will be responsible to design, develop, Implement, test, and operate configuration management process, also develop and maintain configuration policies and procedures to ensure the compliance with ISR. In addition to that the role will Analyze and resolve discovery and configuration issues in a timely manner.

The Job Holder will be responsible to maintain the configuration management Databases ‘‘uCMDB databases’’ using BT Operation and Service management systems for all BT CI’s item, and build the relationship and service mapping for all BT CIs and business services.

Responsibilities: 

• Maintain and optimize the corporate technology configuration Items (CI) lifecycle using efficient and effective process and tools.
• Ensure MF UCMDB is up to date with all the BT Infrastructure CIs and relationship.
• Develop and Implement configuration Items (CI) strategy, standards, policy and procedures.
• Manages the maintenance of records and databases for all CI’s item and it relationship in a repository (CMDB) containing information regarding licenses, warranties, and service agreements for the organization's hardware and software (Networks, FTTO , Data Centers ,Servers , Storage ,application , Telephony , Radio , PC’s ..etc) right from requisitioning, purchase and assignment, to expiry and decommissioning.
• Liaises with Project manager to ensure CI’s is available for their respective project and that new CIs procured within their project is follow the BT asset management process and standards.
• Optimize and Manage BT CMDB, build the relationship among the Cis.
• Provide user and admin training to operation user and enterprise system engineers.
• Perform the day-to-day delivery of Configuration Management services to the organization with minimal direction focusing work on prioritized tasks.
• Work to fulfill Configuration Management Service Requests as assigned.
• Provide day to day support and configurations on all the BT Infrastructure discovery and relationship mapping.
• Develop required documentations related to Configuration Management. Including: Processes, procedures and Policy documents.
• Provides technical administration and support for the CMS, central libraries, tools’ common codes and data; undertakes regular technical housekeeping of the asset and CMS.
• Ensures the integrity and operational performance of the CM systems
• Implement Service Asset management process and procedure in compliance with Industry best practice.
• Generate asset inventory reporting and receive alerts on asset warranty and lease expiration.
• Provide management with related KPI based reports and Dashboards.
• Provide recommendation for Service Improvement

• Degree Level or Minimum Bachelor’s Degree Holder in Computer Science or equivalent field.
• PMBOK, PMP Qualification would be preferable
• ITIL V4 Asset and Configuration Management Qualification are required.
• MF UCMDB Trained and Certified.
• Knowledge of Implementing IT Asset Management and configuration management process is Mandatory.
• 3 years’ experience working with Asset and Configuration Management processes and procedures
• 3 years’ experience managing Service Management processes
• Participated in developing configuration management strategy
• Experience in implementing configuration management strategy
• Experience in inventory management and database tracking
• 3+ years hands on experience with Asset / CMDB tools
• Technical Knowledge of SaaS (Box, Okta, Splunk, Service Now, Tableau)
• Knowledge of Asset Management tools like Service Now, Maximo, tagging systems, Flexera, HP open view , IT Service Management platform like Service Now, IT Operations Management system – Micro Focus products and Infrastructure Management tools
