Solderer

JOB CONTENT
• Melts and applies solder along adjoining edges of workpieces to solder joints, using soldering iron, gas torch, or electric-ultrasonic equipment.
• Grinds, cuts, buffs, or bends edges of workpieces to be joined to ensure snug fit, using power grinder and hand tools.
• Removes workpieces from molten solder and holds parts together until color indicates that solder has set.
• Cleans workpieces, using chemical solution, file, wire brush, or grinder.
• Aligns and clamps workpieces together, using rule, square, or hand tools, or positions items in fixtures, jigs, or vise.
• Melts and applies solder to fill holes, indentations, and seams of fabricated metal products, using soldering equipment.
• Perform testing of basic electronic equipment using written and verbal test procedures and basic test equipment
• Inspection, soldering and the rework of Through Hole components on printed circuit boards (PCB);
• Visually inspecting and accurate measurements (measuring tools/gauging devices);
• Prepare and complete necessary reports/paperwork
• Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures
• Work on various stages of soldering wires and assemble components

QUALIFICATION, EDUCATION
• Secondary Diploma or bachelor’s degree
• 2+ years of prior assembly experience
• 1 – 3 years of soldering experience
• Broad and relevant work experience

a. Knowledge
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Solid knowledge of electromechanical system engineering principals.
• Recognize the procedures to inspect a product or system to ensure that it is according to specifications and requirements.
• Knowledgeable of the correct metal temperature
• Identify product performance elements that indicate or influence product performance.
b. Abilities
• Ability to use a variety of soldering equipment and procedures
• Ability to keep hand and arm steady while moving arm or while holding.
• Ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
• Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
• Ability to identify component values.
