Job Description

Transguard is hiring for Central Kitchen Sr. African Cook, this position is responsible for the FOOD Preparation and supervision in the East or West African food section.

Scope: To prepare and cook quality foods from East or West African origin cuisine in accordance with the Production Meal plan.

Responsibility:

  •    Cook foods of East or West African origin in accordance with a production meal plan and standard recipe
  •     Propose new menu items for approval and inclusion in the future production plan
  •     Instruct cooks and other workers in the cooking of food, making sure to follow recipes carefully
  •     Supervise and coordinate activities of cooks and works in food production
  •     Identify and arrange for equipment repair/replacement as required
  •      Check the quality of food produced prior to dispatch
  •     Check quantities and quality of received goods from the store are correct in accordance with the production plan
  •     Record production and operational data as required
  •     Record and report all food waste and near miss/hazard/incidents in accordance with company policy and processes
  •     Complies with the TOH health, safety, and Food safety hygiene policy.
  •      Cooperate and comply with TOH regarding QHSE instructions and safe working procedures
  •       Take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves, the environment, and others at work.
  •      Attend QHSE training as required by the training needs analysis

Ensure compliance with the Food Safety and Quality Management Systems requirements.

Skills

  • Candidate must have a minimum of 3 years of experience as an East or West African food section Cook/Chef and can prepare a variety of dishes.

Have completed or can pass the Basic Food Hygiene Certificate

Ability to work as part of a team • Customer Service Orientation • Flexible approach to work

  • Minimum English Language Level (by Transguard Group Standards) • Time Management • Knowledge of Food Safety & Hygiene • Able to work in a fast-paced environment • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently bulk cooking.
